Description
Rice Powder is made by grinding rice grains into a powder. Not all rice flours are produced the same way, which can affect potential benefits.
Rice is a whole grain (similar to wheat, oats, rye, spelt, and corn). Whole grains consist of three parts: the bran, the germ, and the endosperm.
• The bran is the hard outer layer. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and is considered the healthiest part of the grain. It contains bioactive components such as ferulic acid and phytic acid, which are sometimes extracted and added to skincare products.
• Rice flour is typically made by separating the three parts of the grain and grinding them in various proportions, so the resulting flour can contain more or less of the bran and germ.
The primary ingredients in rice flour act as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant agents. They help prevent skin aging, reduce UV damage, promote skin lightening, and support skin and hair regrowth. Brown rice protein has also been noted as a natural exfoliant.
Skin Benefits of Rice Powder / Rice Flour
• Skin-lightening and whitening agent: Nutritional and mineral-rich rice has traditionally been used as a skin-lightening remedy. Amino acids and vitamins in the grain act as clearing agents and help control skin shine.
• Treats age spots, wrinkles, and pimples: Useful for blemishes, fine lines, and pimples. It also helps retain skin elasticity and firmness for a fresher, younger appearance.
• Exfoliating agent: The slightly coarse texture makes it effective as a scrub. Fine particles help remove flaky dead skin cells. Rice absorbs sebum, leaving skin clean, smooth, and re-energized.
• UV / sun protection support: Contains sun-protecting agents such as ferulic acid and allantoin, giving it mild natural sunscreen properties. As an anti-inflammatory, it can help with sunburns and may reduce the tendency to tan.
