Green Tea Extract Powder is sourced from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. It contains high levels of polyphenols (natural plant compounds that act as powerful antioxidants). Catechins (a type of phenolic compound) make up a large percentage of green tea’s total antioxidant content. The most abundant catechin is EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate), which is known to reduce stress and inflammation.
The extract is described as 20 times more antioxidant-active than Vitamin C, making it a strong anti-aging ingredient with calming anti-redness properties. The scavenging effect of lipid free radicals by the polyphenols in green tea extracts has been observed in experiments.
