Description
Ethylhexyl Triazone (also known as Octyl Triazone or Uvinul T 150) is a highly effective, oil-soluble organic UVB filter widely used in modern sunscreen and daily skincare formulations. It belongs to the triazine family of UV absorbers and is valued for its exceptional photostability and high absorption efficiency.
It provides strong protection against UVB radiation (280–320 nm), with peak absorption at approximately 314 nm. Because of its very high specific absorbance, only small concentrations are needed to achieve high SPF values. It is particularly suitable for water-resistant and long-wear sunscreen products due to its affinity for skin keratin and complete insolubility in water.
Ethylhexyl Triazone is also used as a light stabilizer to help protect other sensitive ingredients (such as antioxidants, fragrances, and colors) from UV degradation.
